前回の続きです。ジョージ・オーウェルの動物農園について和訳と解説をします。今日は動物農園で、メイジャー爺さん（長老ブタ）が動物たちを集めて演説をするシーンです。メイジャー爺さんはロシア革命時のマルクス、レーニンに似せたキャラだそうです。それでは読み進めましょう。
All the animals were now present except Moses, the tame raven, who slept on a perch behind the back door.
裏木戸の後ろの止まり木で眠ている飼いならされたカラスのモーゼ（モーゼス）を除く全ての動物たちがそろっていた。
※カラスのモーゼ≒カトリック教徒。
When Major saw that they had all made themselves comfortable and were waiting attentively, he cleared his throat and began:
メージャーは彼ら全員が落ち着くのを見て、注目が集まるのを待ってから咳払いをして話し始めました。

“Remember, comrades, your resolution must never falter. No argument must lead you astray. ※astray：迷って
同志諸君、君たちの決意を緩めるな。どのような異論にも惑わされてはいけない。
Never listen when they tell you that Man and the animals have a common interest, that the prosperity of the one is the prosperity of the others.
人間どもが君たちと共通の利益を持ち、片方の繁栄はもう一方の繁栄であると言っても耳を貸すな。
It is all lies. Man serves the interests of no creature except himself.
そんなもの全部ウソだ。人間は自分以外の生き物の利益など一切考えてない。
And among us animals let there be perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle.
そして我々動物同士で、闘争における完全なる団結、完全なる同志意識を持とうではないか。
All men are enemies. All animals are comrades.
全ての人間は敵だ。全ての動物は同志だ。
考察：個人的には、政治家が仮想敵を作って団結を深めようとする時は警戒してしまいます。トランプ政権になってからジョージオーウェルの売れ行きが良くなったそうです・・・・。
